The university will not hold classes tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 17, which was previously scheduled on the academic calendar as a “sprinkle day” with no classes held – either in person or remotely – and with no assignments due from students.
With winter storm conditions forecast to continue throughout the Houston area tomorrow, once again only essential personnel should report to campus. However, other university employees who need to come to the campus may visit for short periods of time. Be advised that all campus buildings are now accessible only with entry cards, so be sure to bring your Rice ID card with you. All employees are urged to exercise extreme caution as they travel to and from Rice as the conditions for this evening and tomorrow remain hazardous across the Houston area.
We’ll continue monitoring the winter storm conditions and power outages throughout the area, and we’ll issue further advisories as the situation develops.
